Why Build International Listings doesn’t copy customization
Overview
Build International Listings helps with cross-listing products and synchronizing prices across Amazon stores. Amazon’s Global Selling guide describes those functions, including automatic translation in some cases. They should not be treated as proof that a product’s customization experience has also been copied. Amazon Global Selling
An Amazon staff reply in the Seller Forums specifically says that Build International Listings does not support customization options. That answer predates this guide, so verify your target listings and current Seller Central guidance rather than assuming the limitation or its scope can never change. Amazon staff response about customization
The practical distinction is between the product listing and the customer’s personalization controls. Seeing an offer on the destination marketplace does not establish that its text fields, images, choices and preview match the source.
Before you start
Check three things separately:
- Listing: Does the correct destination listing exist, with the intended product and category?
- Customization: Can customers enter text, upload images and select the intended options?
- Commercial settings: Are the base price, customization charges and fulfillment arrangements correct?
Base offer pricing and customization surcharges should be reviewed separately. Do not infer how one behaves from the other.
Our copying service requires existing destination listings in the same category as the source. Any account enrollment, listing approval or marketplace compliance work is checked separately during preparation.
Process
- Inspect one source and one target. Compare an actual product, rather than using the existence of a destination SKU as your only check.
- List what is missing. Note surfaces, customer inputs, instructions, fonts, colours, preview assets, option order and charges.
- Check current Amazon tools. Amazon documents bulk customization updates after a base ASIN has been created and customized. That is a separate workflow from Build International Listings; review the linked help for your case. Amazon Custom bulk-update guidance
- Choose how to recreate the experience. You can assess the controls available in your target account or request our copying service. We check compatibility and begin with a small pilot.
- Verify the result. Compare saved settings and the customer preview, then record exceptions before expanding.
Review and next steps
Do not assume that every source control, asset or price can be reused unchanged. Agree translations, dimensions and any currency treatment before copying. A destination account’s available controls and product eligibility need their own review.
If the target listings are ready and the customization is the remaining task, request a free pilot. Include the source marketplace, target marketplace, SKU range and whether two seller accounts are involved. We will confirm the scope before making changes.
